2003 EPF Congress: The 2003 EPF Congress will be held at 2000hrs on Wed 7 May in Sofia, Bulgaria. Provisional Agenda:

  • Minutes of the last Congress.
  • Treasurer's Report:
    • To examine the accounts of the previous year.
    • To approve the budget for the forthcoming year.
  • General Secretary's Report.
  • Committee Reports:
    • Technical Committee.
    • Law and Legislation Committee.
    • Finance Committee.
    • Disciplinary Committee.
    • Appeal Committee.
  • Elections of EC members and Committee chairmen.
  • Action on proposed amendments(Proposals).
  • New Member Applicants: Moldavia, Azerbaijan.

Note that amendments to the EPF By-Laws and Constitution and the names of candidates for election must be submitted to the General Secretary, Heiner Köberich, no later than 7 Feb 2003.

Membership Fees: The General Secretary requests that National Federations pay their 2003 EPF membership fees before the end of January. The fee is €250 and the fine for late payment is €10 per month overdue. The following nations have not yet paid: Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Estonia, Georgia, Germany, Great Britain, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, Switzerland, Yugoslavia.

Marathon Supportive Equipment: The IPF has issued the following statement: "Marathon supportive equipment will be banned from world and regional championships and cups from 1 January 2003."

Combined European Powerlifting Championships: The EPF executive committee has agreed to combine the 2006 Men's and Women's European Powerlifting Championships. Organisers are invited to bid to host the combined championships, which will be held in May 2006.

European Lifters of the Year: The EPF Executive members have elected Marina Kudinova (RUS) and Jaroslaw Olech (POL) as European lifters of the year 2002.

Executive Committee Members: With effect from the 2003 EPF Congress, the elected chairmen of the Disciplinary and the Appeal Committees will not be members of the Executive Committee. These two committees must be independent from the EPF Executive Committee due to juridical reasons, as stated in the IPF Constitution.

Questionnaire: The EPF sent a questionnaire to all the national federations in November. Up to now, only twelve nations have returned the questionnaire: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Luxembourg, Norway and Slovakia. The General Secretary requests that all other national federations complete their questionnaires as soon as possible.
