1. New Proposal for 1999 EPF Congress
1999 European Powerlifting Federation Congress - Kielce, Poland.
1900hrs, Wednesday 12th May 1999.
- Doping Control Fee. The Doping Control Fee shall be raised to
50DM for each lifter nominated at the Technical Meeting.
2. 1999 European Junior Powerlifting Championships
The Juniors will also take place in Tomashow-Lubelski, Poland this year
and I am very pleased that the Polish Federation volunteered to host this
event at such short notice. Tomashow-Lubelski is in South-East Poland,
60km from the Ukranian border and 250km from Kielce.
3. Unofficial Powerlifting Federations
I often hear of EPF national federations having problems with
newly founded WPC national federations. Consequently, I would like all
EPF national federations who have WPC federations within their
country to send me a report answering the following questions.
- When was the WPC federation formed in your country?
- Is the WPC federation in any way officially recognised by your
national sports federation?
- Does the WPC in your country carry out doping-control tests
during competitions? If not, is your national gouvernment aware of this
lack of doping-control?
- Is a second powerlifting federation, which is not recognised by the
national sports federation, allowed to organise national championships?
Ask both you national sports federation and your national Olympic
committe.
- How do you deal with lifters from your federation who lift
at the other federation's championships?
- Do lifters suspended for drug-abuse by your federation lift at the WPC
federation's meets?
- Are you aware that according to IPF rules, all lifters competing
against an IPF suspended athletes will themselves be suspended for one
year from your federation?
Please reply to the above questions as quickly as possible - the
information will help me to protect our national members against
unofficial powerlifting federations. However, we should not worry unduly
about these powerlifting organisations as they will never will reach our
standard of administration and/or competition. Even if lifters do join
unofficial organisations, they will soon realise the disadvantages
and return to the EPF affiliated federations.
4. Any Other Business
- As you know, from 1st of January 1999 it is possible to pay in
EURO. It is now cheaper for member countries who want to send
money by bankers draft to do so in EURO. The Membership Fee is 200EURO.
- The following Members have yet to pay the EPF Fee for 1999: AUT, GBR,
POL, SLK, LIT, BUL, POR, GEO, BLR and CYP. As it is now February, the EPF
Fee is 430DM - including the fine for two months late payment.
