1. The Final Baltic Cup

The final Baltic Cup was held in St Petersburg, Russia. Teams from Russia, Norway and Lithuania took part. The competition was very well run and the standard of lifting was very high, especially the Women. Russia won both the the Men's and the Women's team competitions.

Andrey Vendik did an excellent job of organising the Baltic Cup and the EPF has sanctioned Andrey to hold the St Petersburg Powerlifting Cup in June next year. Invitiations will be published in a later issue of EPF Info. The Russian Championships Secretary, Alevtina Koselava, also proved herself to be very capable, and she appears ready to take on international duties, such as Records Registrar for the IPF.

Looking back at the history of the Baltic Cup, Norway was the only nation to attend all eleven competitions. In terms of total team points for the eleven championships, Russia is first with 43 points, Norway second with 41 points and Sweden third with 36 points.

Note that as Estonia and Lithuania did not give the organiser sufficient notice of their team changes/withdrawal, they will be fined 50DM each, to be paid at their next EPF of IPF competition.

2. 1999 Luxembourg Cup

The 1999 Luxembourg Bench Press Cup is sanctioned by the EPF and will be held on 30th October. EPF member nations are strongly recommended to send teams as the Luxembourg Federation organises excellent championships.
