1. 1999 European Masters Bench Press Championships

The 2nd European Masters Bench Press Championships were very well organised. Thanks are due to Gaston Parage, his wife Pina, and all those who helped make the Championship such a success. The new Executive Committee of the Luxembourg Federation have made a lot of positive changes. The Federation has demonstrated its ability to organise major powerlifting competitions and Luxembourg is now ready to bid for a World Championships.

2. 1999 European Bench Press Championships

The beautiful city of Györ hosted the 1999 European Bench Press Championships. The Hungarian Federation organised an excellent competition, held in a good venue. Thanks are due to Andras Ronaszeki, Laszlo Nemeth and all those who helped them.

It should be noted that the British team complained that they had to wait for four hours at Budapest airport before the coach took them to Györ. The reason for the delay was the need to wait for other teams to arrive, ensuring the coach was full before starting the journey. It would be prohibitively expensive to travel 150km by coach with only a small number of passengers.

3. Other Business

Vladimir Markowsky was the one positive at the 1999 Men's European Powerlifting Championships. He loses his Silver medal and is suspended from 15th May 1999 to 14th June 2001.
